CSOA News

June 3rd 2016
Writing to you at the start of June we’re delighted that half way through the year we’re able to report several new developments.

Anonymity

Responding to requests we received from CSOs you now have the ability to post on the platform anonymously. To do this simply tick the ‘Anonymous’ box that appears when typing a response to an item in Chatter or to a discussion in Groups.

We do listen to the feedback we receive, so if you have any other suggestions you would like to see incorporated please email them to ideas@csoalliance.com to let us know.

Visiting the IMO & MSC

On your behalf we sat in briefly at the recent MSC and attended the European Union presentation on their investment in information sharing options in the Indian Ocean, delivered by CLS. A great deal of work has been done to ensure that lessons are learned and security is improved. We are awaiting feedback from the CGPCS in Seychelles to extract what is relevant for CSOs.

We also met with Chris Trelawny, Special Advisor to the Secretary-General on Maritime Security, who is wholly supportive of your emerging community.

North P&I Club

We’ve had a great response to the North P&I deal, and as we start to welcome new members onto the platform we will also be welcoming Colin Gillespie, Deputy Loss Prevention Director of North P&I.

Colin has offered to create a new North P&I Group open to all CSOs. North are working on the content over the next few days so that it is a useful reference point for all. The addition of this P&I security resource, combined with the BIMCO security team and the military watch keepers, gives you access to a wealth of experience and insight as we work as one to fight organised maritime criminals, active in 63 countries.
