Maritime Cyber Crime Workshop: London Wednesday 7 Sept

CSO Alliance hosted a cybercrime workshop with the aim of exploring how best to consolidate the reporting and sharing of maritime cybercrime with all the evolving best practice advice from Owner Associations, Flag State, P&I, Classification Society and independent service provider. Under consideration was a range of useful support and educational tools to help both the seafarer and shore based staff deal with this issue.

We invited several ship owners and managers as well Superyacht managers. They joined representatives from the ship owner, P&I and Legal profession as well as leading cyber solution providers.

With Chatham House rules we spent the morning working through the various experiences and presentations, including how best to deliver the cyber message to ensure effective cybercrime education for seafarers and shore staff. The backdrop to this is the fact that any solution has to fit within the stretched resources of the maritime industry.

It is clear that any solution has to embrace all the stakeholders and solution providers. This simple information sharing exercise is just one of many simple steps we as an industry can take to work together in dealing with the dynamic and rapidly evolving cybercrime problem.
