Belgian Shipowners Association Welcomes CSO Alliance

July 4th 2014
CSO Alliance is delighted to have been invited by the Belgian Shipowners Association in Antwerp to present to its membership. The meeting was well attended and led to some hugely interesting learnings from the CSO team who presented the platform live to the assembled delegates before taking questions and opening the floor for further discussion.

The assembled CSOs discussed a range of topics following the presentation. As ever with events where we gather CSOs, there were topics debated and innovations uncovered we hadn’t seen before.

These kind of events are at the core of our delivery: collecting CSOs in person and online and allowing them to securely share that which is not competitive in their daily lives – the safety and security of vessels, captains, crew and cargo. Our session in Belgium was an excellent example of how these interactions can be captured by the Alliance platform and transmitted online with the site itself adapting features and tools to accommodate the unique requirements of each member.

One of the more intriguing debates between those who attended concerned the number of stowaways taking advantage of the regular transits between the European mainland and the United Kingdom. The team discussed this issue at length and resolved to look more closely at the issue of stowaways, which is already a focal point within the Groups section of the CSO Alliance platform.

The Alliance is looking forward to working closely with the Belgian Shipowners Association in addition to its membership as we raise the stakes in the fight against organised maritime crime.
