Charterers Workshop

December 23rd 2014
At the end of February 2015, CSO Alliance will run its first Charterer workshops in Hong Kong and Singapore.

These events will work through a similar agenda as the CSO-only workshops run afterwards. They will start with a military brief on the worldwide maritime crime situation in the various key maritime theatres. There will then be a Ship Owner perspective delivered by BIMCO.

There will be assessments on the various protection solutions available to Ship Owners which some charterers, but not all, support. Importantly, we are keen to emphasise the risks that Charterers take by not running effective due diligence of Private Maritime Security Companies.

We will be canvasing member CSOs on the issues and concerns they would like to be raised, once these have been aired, we can immediately deliver the feedback in the CSO workshops which follow.

The intention is that wherever we run our CSO only workshops we will engage in an open and constructive way with the local and regional Chartering community. All our interests are best served by finding common ground and understanding.
