CSOA News: December 2015

December 18th 2015
A Membership Milestone

We’ve reached 200 members!

We have taken our time to make sure we build a strong and unique community. It has several unique features, including providing access for CSOs to the key military and NGO maritime crime reporting teams on the platform.

BIMCO rollout

We’ve partnered with BIMCO to offer an introductory period to their members and this has contributed to the surge of new people on the platform. Please make them feel welcome, talk to them and help them out if they need it.

Athens workshop

We will continue our series of CSO workshops in Athens in early February. Speakers will include: Hellenic War Club on kidnaps, BIMCO on key issues Ship Owners face and an intelligence brief.

At least 50% of the agenda will be left free for questions and concerns of CSOs from the floor.

Last month we told you we were sitting CSO qualifications. Well, we all passed!

What we have gained from the experience is more than just a certificate, though. We now have a greater understanding of the demands every CSO is under and will use this to try to find ways of lightening the load.

Out and about

CSO Alliance was invited as a guest to take part in the LMC panel discussion at NATRANS ARABIA 2015. With the intermodal transport sector in the Middle East, correct security infrastructure need to be in place, therefore CSO Alliance was present to discuss the benefits of sharing best practice by security through community.

As Break Bulk Middle East was also in Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre it was also the perfect opportunity to network and advise the MENA maritime community of the work we are doing to combat organised crime.
